Jan Bouten, Chairman

Jan joined Innova in 2010 after working with the Innova team in an advisory capacity since 2009. Since his move to Memphis in 2009 he actively consulted with dozens of very early-stage companies and entrepreneurs, brought the Kauffman Foundation's FastTrac program to Memphis, and laid the foundation for the Mid-South Angel Network. His professional experience includes founder and executive of two startups, 10+ years of high tech industry experience in engineering, marketing and sales, and 7 years at a seed and early-stage VC. This solid diversified experience base allows him to provide advice and mentoring to companies and entrepreneurs. Jan currently serves on the Board of Directors for iScreen Vision, TrakLok Corporation, Computable Genomix and Digitalsmiths.

Prior to moving to Memphis, Jan has been in the early-stage investment field since 2002, having spent 7 years at Aurora Funds, a $235MM seed- and early-stage venture capital firm founded in 1995 and based in the Research Triangle Park, NC. To uncover investment opportunities, he actively worked with the tech transfer offices at Vanderbilt University, Duke University, UNC Chapel Hill, NC State University, Georgia Tech and University of Florida. He was also actively involved in developing and building the entrepreneurial ecosystem through active participation in conferences, workgroups, meet-ups, socials, teaching and mentoring.

During Jan's tenure at Aurora, he was involved in negotiating and structuring 11 investments, served on the board of 11 companies, and was involved in 3 IPOs and 3 acquisitions. More than $100MM was invested in new companies, attracting an additional $337MM in investments from other firms, leveraging the fund an average of more than 3 times. More than 1,000 high paying jobs were created by the portfolio companies. Investments were made in the following sectors: Digital Media, Internet Technology, Energy and Material Science, Biotechnology, Medical Devices and Agriculture Biotechnology (AgBio).

Jan received his MBA from Duke University, a MS degree in Artificial Intelligence, and a BS in Computer Science. He holds an appointment as Adjunct Associate Professor at Duke University's Pratt School of Engineering.

Thomas L. Mann, CEO

Eric L. Dobson, Ph.D., Director

Eric L. Dobson has 20 years of experience with intellectual property licensing, research and development, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), satellite and cellular communications, contract management, mergers and acquisitions, business administration, and business processes for tracking systems. Dr. Dobson is Executive Vice President, and is responsible for TrakLok's architecture development and deployment. He has executed contracts for the Department of Homeland Security for the development of technologies to track shipping containers and has managed contracts with Fortune 500 companies. Dr. Dobson was named the 2010 Navigator Entrepreneur of the Year by the Innovation Valley Technology Council and the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce Pinnacle Innovator of the Year in 2011. From 2006 - 2008, Dr. Dobson served as a business strategy and operations consultant for early stage companies in the technology and telecommunications industries. From 2000 until 2006, Dr. Dobson was the Chief Executive Officer of Navigational Sciences, Inc. (later renamed Wireless Physics Corporation), an advanced radio technology development and engineering company. Dr. Dobson received his BA in Geography from the University of Tennessee in 1991, both his Masters of Science (1993) and his doctoral degree (1998) in GIS from the University of South Carolina.

I. Michael Wolfe, Director

Mr. Wolfe is the CEO of North Rivers Consulting Group. He is a leading expert on the interplay between intermodal freight system operations, tracking technologies, supply chain productivity, security and business economics. He is particularly respected as an expert on mechanical and electronic cargo security seals, smart container technologies, and the standards related to them. His clients in 12 years of private practice include technology developers, users and investors plus public and international agencies, non-profit organizations and standards bodies. Prior to North River, he spent 22 years at the US DOT's market-oriented Volpe National Transportation Systems Center, most as Division Manager of the Intermodal and Logistics Systems Division. Mr. Wolfe's strategic consulting roles have addressed SWOT issues related to market demands, maturity and business viability of proprietary and potential new technologies, value propositions, competition, potential partnerships and acquisitions. He played facilitating or supporting analytic roles in four acquisition negotiations. He has been a trusted 'honest broker' in several standards imbroglios and business partnership negotiations. He published independent technology and market analyses and forecasts related to smart containers, port management technologies

Michael Cain, Director

Michael Cain is a managing partner of Guardant Partners, LLC an investment management partnership and also a general partner in special situations funds located in Greensboro, North Carolina. He is the founder and managing partner of the Wilmington Investor Network, LLC (WIN), located in Wilmington, NC, an angel investment fund he formed in July 2004. He is an investor and manager of Emergent Growth Fund II of Gainesville, FL and Research Triangle Angels, LLC in Raleigh, North Carolina. He is a member of the Board and Treasurer of the Angel Capital Education Foundation Inc, a non profit angel research and education foundation originally created and funded by the Kauffman Foundation. He remains Vice Chairman of The Atlantis group a fully invested angel group based in Durham, NC. Prior to becoming a full time angel investor, Cain started operated and successfully exited several businesses ranging from full service restaurants, computer sales and service, software, and products designed for the paper industry. He has served or is serving on several non-profit boards. Currently he is Vice-Chairman of the Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington, North Carolina, Chairman of the Marine Science Center Board of Advisors at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Cain received his Juris Doctor degree from Syracuse University School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Vermont.

Joseph A. Hollingsworth, Jr., Director

Joe A. Hollingsworth, Jr. was born in 1951 and grew up in Clinton, Tenn. After graduating from Clinton Senior High School, Joe studied finance and real estate at East Tennessee State University and finance and urban development at the University of Tennessee. A native Southerner, Mr. Hollingsworth has more than 45 years of successful entrepreneurial business experience in the South. He currently serves as CEO for The Hollingsworth Companies, headquartered in Tennessee. A rich diversity of businesses falls under The Hollingsworth Companies corporate umbrella, including SouthPoint Business Parks (with locations in Alabama, North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia), providing a network of carefully developed and privately controlled business sites throughout the South, a convenience store chain, and multifamily apartment complexes. He is actively engaged as an entrepreneur in equity sponsorships and start-up enterprises and serving on the Board of Directors for them. Several of these enterprises have been recognized nationally or internationally for their success in their respective industries. Additionally, he has been extensively involved in the economic growth of several southern states especially his home state of Tennessee. He served as Vice-Chairman of the Tennessee Board of Economic Growth, established to analyze the best economic programs in the 49 remaining states. This effort produced "Opportunity 21" the first long-term economic strategy in Tennessee's history encompassing 41 different state initiatives. Furthermore, Joe established the Hollingsworth Foundation in which he wanted to see contribute to the welfare of the area specifically in the area of reseeding Capitalism. The Hollingsworth Foundation joined with Junior Achievement of East Tennessee as its first major endeavor and donation which attracted Junior Achievement's "BizTown" facility and experience to East Tennessee. This is perhaps the most cutting edge facility in the world of its type and designed to give 5th graders from the a seventeen county area in the JA Enterprise a hands-on, all day experience with Capitalism.

Satish Jindel, Director

Satish has worked in the transportation/logistics industry for 25 years. From 1984 through 1992, he played a major role in the successful start-up and expansion of RPS (now FedEx Ground) into a nationwide package carrier. Since founding SJ Consulting Group, Inc. in 1993, Satish has completed hundreds of assignments for clients around the globe, including assisting FedEx with RPS acquisition in 1997. His functional area of expertise includes corporate turnaround and strategy, industry benchmark studies, new products and services, and valuation on M&A deals for strategic buyers and private equity investors. He has correctly forecast many industry trends. Satish is frequently quoted in national and local media, and has published numerous articles. He is a regular guest speaker at conferences. Satish has three masters' degrees from The University of Pennsylvania including a MBA from the Wharton School.
